Welcome to my edition of the Big Easy Blog Tour. I was invited by the very talented Brenda Ashworth Barry to participate in this fun experience. Each author answers four questions and highlights a book they are working on and then posts the information on their blog on a Monday. Today is my turn and I’m answering the questions and highlighting my new book, Embracing Her Surrender, which releases tomorrow June 24th at all major e-book retailers. Don’t forget to check the bottom of the post to find out which authors will be up next on the Big Easy Blog Tour.
The Big Easy Blog Tour Questions:
1. What am I working on?
I’ve just finished up Embracing Her Surrender and am starting the next book in the Anamchara Series, called Embracing Her Love. It is the story of Ben Parker, Jr. the new head of the tiger streak in Anamchara. His heroine is a surprise since she wasn’t introduced in the first two books of the series, so you’re just going to have to wait to meet her. I know, I’m so mean, aren’t I? As I’m working on it, I’ll post snippets and little peeks here and on my Facebook fan page, so if you haven’t liked it yet, I hope you will now. Facebook Fan Page
2. How does my work differ from others in the same genre?
I think in the fantasy/paranormal genre it is easy to be different from other authors, we all have such varied worlds in our heads and build them up as we go along. My current world is in a hidden town in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia and I’m having a blast building it, introducing all of the characters and the layout of the town. It’s almost taken on a life of its own, and plays as important a role in my books as any of the other characters.
3. Why do I write what I do?
Good question. I have at least one hundred book ideas written down in a file on my computer, and I’ve written many different types of stories already. A lot are in work and not complete, but will be some day, hopefully sooner than later. For now I’ve been writing all paranormal. They are the characters who speak to me the loudest, and with the way this new series, Anamchara, is going, it looks like I’ll be writing paranormal/fantasy for a long while yet. I may introduce a new series in a few more books, a series of contemporary travel stories or one of my other ideas. Stay tuned is about all I can say. 🙂
4. How does my writing process work?
I’m what you call a punster, meaning I write by the seat of my pants. I have lots of ideas but I don’t plot at all in a normal sense. As I said above, I have a folder of ideas. Inside is a word document which a few paragraphs explaining the premise of each idea or series, and that’s all I’ll have until I start writing.
Once I am in a series, I keep something called a bible. For me this is a two part item. One part is written on the computer and then printed out along with pictures of the characters, maps I’ve drawn, etc. It will give me a breakdown and track each story in the series, all the characters I’ve written so far and what they look like, who they interact with, what they do, etc. As more characters are added to the series, they also get added to the bible.
I hope you’ll take a look at my latest book Embracing Her Surrender, which releases tomorrow. You can find the buy link from my books page or from my Amazon Author Page.
