Wednesday Words – Review of Fated Magic

January 22, 2014 by Lynne St. James 1 Comment
fated magic, wolf pack, series, magic, menage, erotic romance, love, danger, avery gale,

fated magic, wolf pack, series, magic, menage, erotic romance, love, danger, avery gale, I love reading paranormal stories. I’m not picky, give me werewolves, vampires, fairies, witches, it’s all good.  I’m always looking for new series to “sink my teeth into” – pun intended – and when I came across the Wolf Pack Series by Avery Gale I was thrilled.  The first book in the series is  Mated and the second is Fated Magic.  Today, I’m reviewing Fated Magic.

Here is the blurb from the book:

In book two of the Wolf Pack: Kit Wolf’s magic skills are both a blessing and a curse, and it doesn’t seem her life is going to be any more ordered anytime soon.  Between a wild and wacky Granny whose wardrobe would embarrass a Shriner, to a mother with an aversion to having her picture taken that borders on a DSMIV diagnosis, and a demon trying to recruit her, Kit barely has enough focus to care for herself, let alone worry about two newborns.  Then with all of the chaos swirling around her, what is she most befuddled by?  Her sexual Dominant husbands’ newfound penchant for vanilla sex.  The pack Alphas, Jameson and Trevlon Wolf are treating their mate like a piece of fragile crystal and Kit can’t seem to focus on anything but finding the freedom their Dominance once brought her.

For Jameson and Trevlon Wolf, life has never been more complicated or perfect.  Finding their mate was only the beginning because babies, wild in-laws, an endangered teen, and revelations about their best friend and mentor have the two pack Alphas scrambling just to keep their chins above water.  But magic has a way of pushing itself to the front, particularly when you are looking the other way.

When a young wizard needs their protection, he quickly becomes a thread of gold weaving his way into their hearts and lives, but keeping him safe isn’t going to be easy.  His connections to the Wolf Pack and their circle of friends seems to be a never ending outward ripple, but the dark forces haven’t hesitated to kill anyone protecting Braden, so sheltering him is an enormous risk.  However, regaining lost ground with their lovely submissive is what holds the keys to Jameson and Trevlon’s hearts and the future of the pack.

*****

I would highly recommend reading these books in order but you can certainly read Fated Magic and follow the story.  In Mated we meet Kit, Jameson and Trevlon.  The guys have to convince Kit that she is theirs while protecting her from a horrible evil.  If that’s not enough to make you want to dig in to this series, I don’t know what is.

Fated Magic picks up where Mated leaves off and I was pulled in from the very first page.  Jameson and Trevlon are just plain yummy, and oh yeah – very stubborn. But then again what else can you expect from Alpha werewolves?  Kit doesn’t like the fact that they are treating her like glass and wants the fire back in their relationship.  Well before the book is over she gets a lot more than she bargained for.

I really enjoyed the complexity of the story. Ms. Gale’s characters are quirky, loveable and exasperating, and I can’t wait to read more about each of them.  Of course at the end she leaves us wanting more, but what good author wouldn’t?   I read Fated Magic in one sitting. I couldn’t put it down and now I’m impatiently waiting for the next book.  Do you hear that Avery?  I would definitely give this book a 5, and I highly recommend this series.  Once you’ve read it, let me know what you think! ♥ ♥ ♥

Wednesday Words With Debra Ann Fisk

January 15, 2014 by Lynne St. James 2 Comments
irresistibly delicious, debra ann fisk

I’m kicking off a new blog series, one to help showcase many of the authors I know and love.  Each Wednesday I’ll have a different guest author share some of their “words.”  I hope you’ll join me every week as we meet and greet some wonderful word wranglers.

I’m so excited to introduce you to this week’s author, Debra Ann Fisk.  She is a very good friend of mine and a fellow member of my local RWA Chapter.  Her first book, Irresistibly Delicious, is a contemporary romance set in Cozy Cove.   And now without further adieu…here’s Debra.

irresistibly delicious, debra ann fiskThank you, Lynne.  I’m honored to be a guest on your blog.

This year has started off very exciting for me.  My first novel, Irresistibly Delicious, was released on December 31st.  What a way to ring in the New Year!  When I think back to what inspired me to write this novel there were a lot of components that went into it.

I love reading small town contemporary romance.  Jill Shalvis, Kristen Higgins, and Roxanne St. Claire are a few of my favorites.  The idea of this novel evolved completely from a few of my personal life circumstances.  My husband was finishing his medical rotations and wants to move out of Florida once they are completed.  I have lived in Florida for the past twenty years and don’t want to leave the sunshine for the colder weather.  That was the initial conflict.  I love to cook like Olivia Carson, my heroine, and of course my husband is the doctor like Brady Matthews.

When I sat down to write this story I wanted to write a book people would relate to.  I think my characters are likeable people with quirks and funny personalities like the family and friends we all know and love. I try not to include unrealistic goals, hopes or dreams. I like my stories to have a down-to-earth feeling, and I hope the readers will think I have achieved that.

Right now I’m working on book two in the series, which is the story of Cookie Lucas, Olivia’s best friend.  She meets a very hot and steamy guy and knowing Cookie more than paint will fly.  I hope to finish writing it by the end of the month.

Book Blurb:

One feisty Southern chef. One sexy city doctor. One thousand miles apart. Trauma draws them together, but will circumstances pull them apart?

Chef Olivia Carson’s painful past haunted her until she discovered the healing solace at the Cozy Cove Inn. She fell in love with the bed and breakfast and its owner, Myra. But her world is rocked to its core after Myra has a life threatening emergency.

When Brady Matthews, Myra’s son and a well-known cardiologist in NYC, shows up to care for his mother sparks fly in more ways than one. Olivia and Brady disagree about everything, all the while fighting the sexual attraction that draws them together. As Brady begins to reevaluate his life and Olivia creates a new career for herself, the risk of scandal and past secrets threatens to rip them apart.

Will a headstrong surgeon and a gourmet chef learn to accept love? Or will they choose professional success with a side order of loneliness?

happy new year, New Year, New Year's Eve, 2014, happiness, joy, resolutions, wishes, goals, love, thanks2013 has been an incredible year, lots of ups and downs and ins and outs, but overall it definitely finished on the plus side of things!

I want to thank my readers for all the support that you’ve given me and my books.  All of the wonderful reviews and messages, they mean the world to me.

To my friends, you all have been great, supportive, encouraging and even slave drivers at times–cracking that whip when it needed to be done.

My family is the best, my children – Jackie, Andy and Sarah – I don’t know how I’d get through life without you.  You make me laugh and cry and fill my days with joy.  I’m so proud of the three of you and my two son-in-laws, John and Ian.  We have a truly wonderful family.

Special thanks go out to Shira and Tom.  Without the two of you I’d never have gotten through the low points of this year. I love you both so very much.

I wish you all a very happy, healthy and prosperous New Year. May it be filled with all the joy and love you can imagine.  I’m looking forward to all the new adventures coming our way and I can’t wait to share them all with you.   Goodbye 2013 and Welcome 2014 – it’s going to be a blast! ♥ ♥ ♥
