3 3/4 c. All purpose flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 c. butter
2 c. granulated sugar
1/4 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1/2 tsp. salt
colored sugar (Optional)
cinnamon sugar (optional)


Stir together flour, baking soda, cream of tartar, and salt.  Beat butter for 30 seconds, add the sugar and beat until fluffy.  Add eggs, milk, and vanilla extract and beat well.

Add dry ingredients to beaten mixture and beat until well combined.

Form dough into one inch balls (I used a melon baller) and roll into either the cinnamon sugar or the color sugar.

Place balls two inches apart on parchment covered cookies sheets (or use non-stick cooking spray).  Flatten the slightly with the bottom of a glass.

Bake at 375º for about 8 minutes or until lightly golden brown.

Makes approximately 70 cookies.
