I usually share an encouraging quote to start our week, but since yesterday was Mother’s Day in the US and some other countries I figured we’d change things up. This week it’s your turn…share a happy memory or moment from being a mom, your mom, or of your children (fur babies are included) for a chance to win a $5.00 Amazon Gift card. I’ll select the winner and post it here tomorrow. Now’s your chance to make us all cry with your happy memories…
Today’s Monday Quote is a little different because it’s Lulu’s Second Birthday. From the moment she came through the front door she changed everything. She is our smallest furbaby but she runs the house. My husband and I laugh at her antics, growl at her impertinence and are thankful every day we added her to our family.
Happy Birthday, Lulu! We hope you’re around for a very long time! ♥
Do you have a furbaby–of any kind–who has changed your life and added joy to your day? I’d love to see pictures and hear some of your stories. ***Since it’s difficult to add pictures to the comments, just a little story will work for the entry! I’m looking forward to reading them all!
Oh and as a special surprise, everyone who comments will have the chance to win a $5.00 Amazon Gift Card. I’ll chose one winner from the comments and post it here on Tuesday, April 28th.
This week’s Wednesday Words welcomes author Willow Brooke talking about her latest book Enlisting Her Heart or should have, but instead we are in for a real treat. I got invited out to the ranch to meet the Breaking Protocol Team and ask these hunks errr skilled warriors a few questions. Oh and since Willow couldn’t be here today she is having a giveaway, so make sure you check out the rules at the bottom of the post!
Lynne: I arrived at the ranch and naturally most of the guys were busy doing chores, but I was lucky enough to catch Kodiak right after he picked up the kids from school. It was heart-melting seeing such a huge tough ass become an old softy in their presence.
Mrs. Sanders brought in tray after tray of sandwiches, salads, and treats before we started, piling my plate full despite my protests—that woman is sweeter than I’d imagined. Never have I been a first time guest in someone’s home and felt so comfortable. The atmosphere held so much love, it warmed my heart. I needed to get down to work though, I wasn’t sure how long I’d have with Kodiak before he was called away.
Before we start, I really want to thank you for taking the time so sit with me for some questions. I’ve been dyign to ask though, how did you get the name Kodiak? Is it because you are a big teddy bear, or should I be afraid you bite?
Kodiak: *Laughs* Well, a little of both actually. On the battlefield, a switch flips in me. I do what it takes to succeed and keep my team safe. At home when I’m around the kids and our family, I’m just a fun loving guy. The kids… they hit a soft spot. I love those little munchkins. I have a pretty strong bear hug too. I’ve been known to squeeze hard enough to knock a person out like a body triangle. *Snickers cockily*
Lynne: Wow, that’s a strong hug. It can’t be easy to separate life from wartime and it looks like you do a great job. I know it can’t be easy on you with all of the things you go through and the stuff you see.
So…all the women out there are crying in their beer now that you’re with Violet. I can see your attraction. *Giggles* She seems like one hell of a woman so I don’t think any of us are surprised that she nabbed you hook, line, and sinker. Still you’re so damn sexy you can’t blame a girl for being a little jealous. It makes me wonder how you handle all the attention from other women and if they hit on you? I’m sure they are dropping like flies whenever you walk into a room.
Kodiak: *Rolls his eyes at me while giving me a heart-stopping smile* Aw, now, I don’t know about all that. Most women are intimidated by my size, I think. They have never just flocked to me or fallen at my feet. For the most part, I was the one who approached them. Now that we’ve got Violet, I don’t notice if they are staring. I’m too busy looking at her.
Lynne: *fanning myself with my pad* Now I’m even more jealous. To have a man that devoted to me would be incredible. She is a very lucky woman, but I’m sure she realizes that too. What was the hardest part of convincing Hulk to think about things your way and get him on board for a ménage?
Kodiak: Oh man. What wasn’t hard with his stubborn ass? No, really it wasn’t convincing him to be open to it, it was making him see that it had nothing to do with him lacking, or not being enough for her. With the PTSD, his head wasn’t in the best of places. He had fallen into it enough it made him doubt himself. Once he was able to see that it wasn’t his fault and it was normal for soldiers to go through, he began to process it and understand. The bumps and bruises along the way were well worth getting my brother back, and I’d do it a million times over if he ever needed me.
Lynne: I’m really impressed by how y’all are so close, closer than most blood relations. I’m sure a lot of the reader envy you all, and wishing they were in Violet’s place. I know I damn sure don’t blame Violet for being all for the ménage idea. With the two of you… I’d need a cold shower daily! I assume you both keep her a very busy, and satisfied woman. *Giggles*
Kodiak: *Snorts* Hell yeah we do. She’s a lot of woman to handle, and I can’t see her ever being contained by just one of us. Hell, that minx keeps us on our toes. It sure is fun though…
Lynne: I bet. *shaking my head and grinning* On a serious note, I can’t imagine living the life y’all do. How hard it must be… the rough conditions and sacrifices. What’s the hardest part for you?
Kodiak: Being away from home. The days without sleep, food, showers… Having to carry a weapon to the Port-o-John to ‘take care of business’ if you get my drift. Even seeing the innocent faces of the women and children who are treated with such disrespect and abused as we go through the villages. None of that compares to feeling so disconnected and far from home. It’s like being trapped with no way out. If something goes wrong, there isn’t always a guarantee we will have a ride back to the states. Every deployment we prepare by assuming we are gonna die, or be captured and left for dead. That way, there is no fear. If we don’t fear, we don’t hesitate when our reflexes need to be at their best, and we get that chance to come back home.
Lynne: Damn. That’s a surreal way of looking at things but I understand. It has to take a lot of devotion and dedication to be able to get up and put your boots on every day. How do you handle the negativity you get about what you’re doing, even though you’re willing to sacrifice everything for them?
Kodiak: I do it because whether I like their opinions or not, I fight for freedom. It’s their freedom that allows them to say or think what they want. I don’t have to agree or like it, but that’s the beauty of it all. We are the land of the free, and I plan on doing all I can to keep it that way.
Lynne: I can’t tell you how much we appreciate your service and the sacrifices both you and your family go through. Y’all are a great example of what we all need to be and how we need to think. You make the world a better place and words can’t express my gratitude. Thank you for your time and please do what you can to stay safe.
With that he shook my hand and went off looking for the kids. It took me a few moments to collect my thoughts, finish my notes and head back to my car.
NOTE: Even though the above interview was fictional, the message is not. The belief of Kodiak and the Team to help others, give instead of expecting to receive, and love one another, is an important one.
Please support our men and women in uniform. They are willing to fight for us despite our personal, political, or religious views and we need to show them the same selflessness and appreciation.
The troops finally land a vacation in a tropical paradise for some much needed R&R and a honeymoon celebration. With time to unwind, Hulk (Zane Menroe) moves in on the one little red head that’s been on his mind since she arrived at the ranch- Violet Larose. He’d been keeping her at a distance until he got grips on some of the anxiety and anger issues that kept plaguing him. Their mission is at a stand still and the sun warm, sand soft, and drinks ever flowing. What better time then the present to make his move?
Kodiak (Nik Hughes) has enjoyed the playful flirting with Violet, but wants more. A lot more. He knows Hulk has a thing for her that she returns, but doesn’t think that should stop him from moving in. What’s to not like about a good ménage relationship, right? Normally, it’d be the woman that would need some extra convincing and persuasion, but not in this case. He’s up against not only one of the most stubborn soldiers he’d ever met, but one that is suffering from extreme PTSD and in denial.
With the enemy hunting on their territory and endangering the family they hold so dear, the unit must lay it all on the line to protect them. The mission is down to the wire and the victory in sight, but can they figure out who is friend, and who is foe?
This book contains real problems that real soldiers deal with on a daily basis. Join me in a journey of love, action, and a family pulling together to help their soldiers regain control of their life as they take on the world in order to protect our country and defend our freedom. Sweet romance, hot ménage sex that will curl your toes, and a bunch of soldiers who will steal your heart and leave you wanting more all awaits you!
