Wednesday Words with Alice Brown & Lady V

July 9, 2014 by Lynne St. James 13 Comments

Please join me in welcoming paranormal romance mother and daughter authors, Alice Brown and Lady V to this week’s Wednesday Words.  Today they are here to celebrate the release of their latest book, Fire & Ice in the Dragons of Draganose Series.

~~~~~~
The Interview:
Logo Image for Alice Brown & Lady VHi Lynne, thanks so much for having us back on your blog. We always have a lot of fun here. So, we’ve heard that you and even some of our readers out there have some questions for us. We are ready to give you the answers!
LSJ: Okay ladies, the two of you have been writing together for several months now; living together, and writing together.   Do you ever get on one another’s nerves?
Lady V: Not really. Well, maybe once in a while, but it is for such a short time that neither of us pays any attention to it.   Since I was homeschooled, I feel like we have done the lived together, work together routine most of my life. I just get a lot more say-so these days than I did as a kid doing schoolwork. But in reality, it’s not that much different than what we’ve done for years.
LSJ: Alice, any regrets?
Alice: No, none. We have always worked well together, and as time goes on and we continue writing together, we blend in perfect harmony with each other. I recently purchased Scrivener. It has quickly become the best investment I’ve made in years. It allows you to break things down per chapter or scene, and we sat down together to plot out the different scenes we wanted in the book. Then, we went through and assigned who was writing which scenes. While Lady V writes in the actual document, I can be working on one of my assigned scenes in Scrivener, and then just copy it over to the document when Lady V is finished. This allows us to both be working at the same time, which has really helped us out a lot!
We’ve also learned from each other. Lady V is getting more comfortable within the writing world, and is getting better and better at helping me mesh scenes together and be able to come off of the end of a scene that I write and pick up immediately with hers. It has been very rewarding to watch her blossom as a writer.
LSJ: I bet it has, what a wonderful experience I’m sure.  So ladies, what’s next? What do you have planned for the near future?
Lady V: Well, we just published Fire & Ice, Dragons of Dragonose 2. We are already looking forward to Ivormantis, Dragons of Dragonose 3 which is slated to come out in August. After that, we plan to introduce a brand new series, called My Beloved. The first book, My Beloved Werewolf, is a book I started a long time ago, and Alice has been pushing me to finish. She is helping me get it completed, and we hope to have it out in September.   We will also be revisiting our favorite Texas Vampire Rangers in Up in Smoke, Texas Vampire Rangers, 2. Alice has already started the story line for this, and it promises to be exciting. We hope to have that released around October. We are also toying with the idea of a Christmas shifter wolf story.
LSJ: Wow you’re certainly burning up the keyboards!
Alice: Yes, summer actually is a good writing time for us. It’s too hot to do much of anything else, so we prefer to stay in a cool spot and write.   On top of everything Lady V just stated, we also have storylines for the next 4-5 Dragons of Dragonose books lined up for next year. So have no fear, these dragons aren’t going away any time soon!
LSJ:  Great to know! With all your writing obligations will you have any other plans for some summer fun?
Alice: Not really. We are going camping once a month just to get away from everyday life for a few days. Lady V and I found out the first time we went that we both could really get into our stories and knock out the story line just because we could relax.
Other than that, I am determined to figure out a way to be a writer and go to the beach this summer. Something that I failed to do last summer, but I am determined to make sure we go to the beach a few times over the next couple of months. Lady V and I love just taking a day trip to lay on the beach, catch up on some reading, and people watch! Yes, we do get out and ride the waves a bit also!
LSJ: So, what do you ladies do for fun when you are not writing?
Lady V: Mom and I both like to shop. And I mean we really, really like to shop. I love on-line shopping and so you can find the two of us huddled together while shopping on my laptop. We also love to play games. Very often you can find us at the dining room table late at night eating a snack and playing cards or a board game. But honestly, we like to shop. Alice has got me hooked on getting “presents” in the mail.
LSJ:  Fire & Ice, Dragons of Dragonose 2 just came out yesterday. Can you tell us a little bit about it? And I understand that you are giving a copy of Fire & Ice out to a lucky fan?
Alice:  Yes Lynne, we will randomly pick one lucky winner at the end of the day to win a copy of our new release! It can be in any ebook format, epub, or mobi. Just leave a comment at the end of this blog and make sure you include your email so we can contact you if you win! Good luck!
LSJ:  Thank you again for being here today and for offering up an ebook to one lucky winner.  I can’t wait to read Fire & Ice.
An Excerpt:
Forcing herself to turn her attention back to the men’s faces and not their bodies, she blushed hotly when she found them both grinning wickedly at her. She had been caught. Oh, well, she thought with a slight shrug, it wasn’t like they had tried to hide anything.
Trying to clear her mind of all the sexual images, she watched closely as the brothers’ bodies began to meld together after they joined hands, then their bones began to crack and reform, their bodies growing tall and wide in size, their smooth skin turning into scales, and finally a long tail spurted out! How cool was that? They had a tail! It was long and looked as if it had spikes on it, but for some strange reason, the thought of their dragon having a tail was really cool. As the dragon now reached its full form, she tried to take in all its glory. The creature itself was outstanding and looked just like the painting back in the castle. Its body was a charcoal grey color, but one of its heads was ice-blue while the other was a fiery-orange, the color of fire. She was completely awestruck by its magnificence. She knew the dragon was a part of the brothers, but still found herself wondering if they or the dragon would be able to understand her while in this form. She didn’t have to wait long to learn her answer.
Before she even realized what she was doing, she started slowly walking toward the beautiful creature. It lowered its body closer to the ground for her as she neared, both heads coming down to meet her at eye level.
“Hello, my beauty. Don’t be startled. I would never hurt you. You are welcome to come as close as you wish.” The dragon had long eyelashes on the head that was ice-blue, and he blinked a couple of times as if he was trying to clear his vision.
The fire-orange head then spoke, “Would I be asking too much too soon for you to place your hand on me?”
“Umm, where?”
“Anywhere you wish, my love. You are so pretty. I would be honored for you just to place your hand on me. You could touch my neck if you like.”
She noticed the ice-blue head cocked his head to the other head and frowned. Obviously, if she was going to touch their necks or heads, she would need to do both, as not to upset one of them.
Both heads lay down on the ground, making it easier for her. She felt no fear as she walked right between the two heads and using both of her hands, stroked both necks at the same time. A loud purring sound came from deep within the beast’s chest as she marveled on how smooth their scales were, and how the blue neck was cool to the touch, but the fire-orange neck was very warm.
“Oh, how remiss of me. I completely forgot my manners in introducing myself to you. I am Fadri. And yes, the brothers can still hear and see everything going on, but for the moment, they have let me take charge. If at any time, sweet mate, I make you nervous or upset, you just let me know, because that is the last thing I want to do. It is my intention to try to woo you, hoping that when it comes time to mate with the boys, you’ll overlook their personality defects for my over-generous chivalry and charisma.” The dragon stopped and sighed deeply, “You know, the boys really can’t help themselves sometimes. They have come a long way since they were little, but sometimes—well, sometimes they can be dense. I hope you have a forgiving nature. But oh, the stories I could tell you about those two getting into mischief when they were younger.”
Evangelina felt perfectly comfortable with this huge dragon, and she started to sit down on the ground and use the dragon to prop herself up with. But Fadri was having none of that.
“My sweets, don’t soil your clothing sitting on the ground. I would be honored if you would climb up on my back.” When she just stared at the dragon as if he had grown a few more heads, he gently pushed her forward.
“Go ahead, sweets. Climb on up and find a comfortable spot. Then I will tell you a bit about your men.”
She ended up climbing up on the blue neck, and then sliding down to the back of the dragon. She found a soft spot just under where the heads were joined on the body, and she sank down into it. It was very comfortable, reminding her of a hammock. Then she giggled. She was referring to this huge dragon as a hammock! Maybe she was going crazy!
She sighed contentedly as Fadri began to move his body slightly from side to side, furthering the feel of a hammock. Oh, she could sleep right here for days! “Fadri, you are very comfortable. Thank you for allowing me to climb up on you.”
“Oh, sweets, there is no need to thank me. I live to please you. Now, you get comfortable, and I’m going to tell you some stories of mischief the boys got into when they were growing up.”
Both heads turned toward her, and if she hadn’t been paying such close attention, she would have missed the eye rolls of each. Smiling, she settled in as Fadri began his tales.
Bucket List – Tuscany, Italy
January 17, 2014 by Lynne St. James 6 Comments
The new year has brought a bunch of new “series” for my blog.  I’m happy to introduce you to Friday’s Bucket List and for the first “trip”  we’re going to Tuscany!
Tuscany has been a long time dream of mine, and I hope to make it there in the next year or two.  The wineries, the gorgeous scenery, the food, and the people.
Seeing movies like Love Actually, Letters to Juliet and Eat, Pray, Love only served to fuel the fire and cemented Tuscany firmly on the bucket list.
olive oil, tuscany, tuscan, italy, florence, bucket list, lynne st. jamesOlive Oil Trail of Monti Pisani — This visit would take you through the Pisa Hills which divide the plains where the cities of Pisa and Lucca are located.  The trail itself would take you through the Pisa side including the towns of Buti, Calci San Guiliano Terme, Vecchiano and Vicopisano.  Besides olives, also grown in this area are chestnuts, mushrooms and honey is raised.
I’ve enjoyed my research for this little trip through Tuscany, and now my mouth is watering for more.  Next week we’re off to Paris…ooh la la!
I hope you’ll share some of your bucket list vacations – which of course will most likely add to my list!  But for now I must say Ciao!
