I’m thrilled to host Avery Gale for this week’s Wednesday Words. Her latest release Taking Out the Mother of the Bride and Other Christmas Wishes released yesterday, November 18, 2014. I can’t wait to sink my teeth into this short Christmas story but I’m torturing myself trying to finish my book first. It’s definitely given me incentive to write faster!
Think you are going to plan drama-free nuptials? There’s medication for delusional fantasies you know.
Taking out the Mother Of the Bride and Other Christmas Wishes may center on how the heir to a Russian mob dynasty and those around him deal with his future mother-in-law….but it was drawn from years of experience listening to family and friend bemoan how difficult and drama-filled wedding planning can be.
I wanted to write a short story…light and easy fun to let readers escape all the tension that so often surrounds us during the holidays. It’s a brief reprieve from dreaded reality.
The sex is hot…the setting is snowy…and the humor is biting.

“Mikel darling, you are frightening the salesgirls. Why don’t you run along and do what most grooms do?” Run along? What the fuck! I’m frightening them? Damn, woman, you have sent most of them running in search of solace or weapons. And how the hell would I know what most grooms do? I’ve never been a groom before, and if I had my way I’d be a newlywed by now. Obviously he hadn’t done a very good job of masking his disbelief because this time Demetri didn’t even try to hold back his amusement. His bodyguard’s sharp bark of laughter earned him a glare for both older women and Mikel.
